The Fort to Sea Trail heads inland, and eventually connects with Fort Clatsop. The trail tunnels under Highway 101, and along the way there is a marvelous white wooden bridge over a lovely little river. We saw a squirrel and a herd of elk. I shot the first photo of the elk, and my adrenaline made me jumpy, but the elk were not in the least skittish. They stayed in the same general area and were still there when we returned.
